Utilities

The Solar Biz
Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future - one of the largest solar, wind and hydro electric information and equipment sites in the nation.
PNM - Major gas and electric distributor in NM
New Mexico Rural Electric Cooperatives

In addition to natural gas many smaller, rural, communities utilitze propane for which there are many distributors in all towns in New Mexico because even large towns have outlying areas without natural gas.

WATER: Each jurisdiction has its own water company or companies. An example is the SW Water Company servicing NW Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. In some areas water is scarce because of a drought - recently several cities have implemented water rationing. The region's main water conduit is the Rio Grande River which is at record lows this year because of lessened water runoff from the snow packs. Some Native American Jurisdictions still own water rights and there are lawsuits in place about this situation and how it impacts non-Native American cities. A plea by newly-elected Governor Richardson has asked that all haste be made to resolve these legal water issues for the sake of all NM residents.
